McLaren F2 in the works?

Autocar is reporting aborted Mercedes project Codenamed P8, could be reborn as McLaren’s F2. Mercedes was actively "looking at a mid-engined road car", after the launch of the SLR. confirmed by boss Jurgen Hubbert in early 2004.
The P8 was put on hold in late 2004 by then-Mercedes Car Group boss Eckhard Cordes. The project had “successfully completed the concept stage,” when Mercedes canceled project development. McLaren will go it alone in a solo effort, with a chance to re-establish the company at the top-end of the market. Sources claim the car is already running around the company’s head quarters disguised in a ferrari 360 body.
